VJS Consulting provides online and in curriculum program development, facilitation, training, coaching and consultation to individuals, groups, organizations and institutions
interested in holistic approaches to learning and organizational development. VJS Consulting work is inclusive of all people and specifically pulls from Black, Native and immigrant worldviews, experiences and voices. Training, coaching and consultations are centered on helping people gather tools and concepts necessary to support their work and a healing practice. All retreats, training institutes, workshops and professional development programming are designed to educate and raise awareness around the impact that our work and work environments can have on our bodies, mental health, and spirit. VJS Consulting provides and utilizes tools and approaches that have been proven to promote healing among individuals and organizations.VJS Consulting centers its work recognizing that as our communities grow, become more global, and integrate, identifying creative and trauma informed ways of working together is critical. Objectives
Describe core adolescent developmental milestones, trauma responses, and the neurobiological effects of trauma to explain how these shape   youth behavior and needs.

Demonstrate at least three trauma-informed communication and containment techniques (e.g., grounding, SIEK tools, trauma-informed conversations) through role-play to de-escalate and support youth in distress.

Apply restorative parenting principles to design trauma-informed discipline and accountability plans that balance safety, empathy, and boundaries for individual youth scenarios.
Identify signs of secondary/vicarious trauma, articulate culturally grounded self-care strategies (including the Medicine Wheel/culture-of-care concepts), and create a personal plan to reduce caregiver burnout.

Restorative Parenting is a practical, trauma-informed training for caregivers and practitioners working with adolescents. Across three sessions you’ll learn adolescent development and trauma impacts, practice de-escalation and grounding techniques, and build restorative, culturally responsive approaches to discipline, accountability, and caregiver self-care.

 

 

 

Healing the Healer Retreat: Bayahibe, Dominican Republic

Description: The four day Healing the Healer Retreats have been developed for individuals, groups, and organizations who are in jobs or positions of public service, taking care of others or just needing an intentional holistic break from the day to day hustle. The retreat is led by Senior Trainer, Victor Jose Santana with a team of three other instructors who specialize in massage, herbalism, peacemaking Circles, traditional Mexica and Taino medicines. This retreat is designed to reduce the impact of exposure to chronic traumatic stress at work, home school or community. The retreat takes place in the beach town of Bayahibe, Dominican Republic. The cost of the retreat is listed in the registration and includes all transportation, hotel accommodations, massages and meals. Each day of the retreat begins with breakfast and meditation at the beach followed by a workshop and ending with a relaxing outing or massage. There are two special outings within the four days. One will be visiting the small island of La Saona and the sacred Taino site Padre Nuestro, a cave with natural sweet water pools to swim in. Instructors will share teachings on how to transform traumatic stress, create a personal nutrition and exercise plans, as well as provide talking Circle spaces to process, connect, and find support from peers. Victor Jose Santana’s great great grandfather Juan Brito was the founder of Bayahibe and this retreat also provides a special connection to the local community of this beautiful beach town.
